It is extremely important to have the right plugins to optimize your blog. These plugins will help your content, layout and search engine optimization (SEO) in areas which can take your blog in the direction you see fit. This will undoubtedly increase the traffic to your blog and increase the efficiency towards what ever it is your trying to do with it.

4 Important WordPress Plugins…

1. YoastYoast...

This wordpress plugin is one of the most important to help your posts cover the most important areas regarding SEO. Yoast helps optimize your posts so they are more search engine friendly. From the title, images, key words and meta description.

When you see Green you are good to go. Other aspects will be red or orange if you still have some work to do which Yoast encourages to enhance the quality of your post.

The plugin is straight forward to use and newbie friendly. Just keep checking away till the green lights stack up and you are on your way.

2. Google XML SitemapsGoogle-XML-Sitemaps-Generator-for-Wordpress-150x150

An XML sitemap is extremely important as it provides a list of your URLS, and details of your most recent post which allows the search engines to recognize your new content easily. When search engines crawl your website there could be hundreds, even thousands of pages they have to go through; site maps help the indexing of your site. Making it easier for search engine algorithms to find what they are looking for.

If you use Yoast, then this has a built is XML sitemap and will not necessarily be needed. However, when using other WordPress plugins to optimize SEO it is important to consider using this.

3.W3 Total Cache

This WordPress plugin is highly important. More towards being user friendly than anything else. There is no direct evidence which shows that speed affects ranking. Content remains king above all else. However, Google did relay the message that if your site was slow, it could affect your rankings.W3 Total Cache

Let’s be real, nobody wants to visit a seriously slow website. Anything taking over 2 seconds to load is just too long these days and people don’t have the patience. Your readers will mostly want to flick through your pages and posts quickly to see what it’s all about; if it takes too long they will probably move along.

W3 Total Cache will serve the cached version of your site every time a visitor lands on a page, rather than prompting a completely new page which saves on time. This WordPress plugin can offer serious speed improvement for blogs and is straight forward to use and implement.

4. Social Sharing

Having your posts shared on different social media helps ranking. Now, this plugin is not necessarily needed for the SEO prior to your post being published but is important for the aftermath of ranking. Search enginesSocial-sharing-150 like posts that are shared through the social medias, especially Google+. Google loves anything Google as you have probably noticed.

I use ‘Social Sharing by Danny’ because it is simple, effective and I like it. There are others which can work too so don’t hesitate to look around after you have done a little searching and look at the reviews. Make a effort to have your posts shared, this plugin will provide the reader the option to do so at the end of each post.

 Wordpress Plugins Reminder…

It takes time to get your site looking and running the way you want it to. SEO takes time to master and the plugins which will impact your site are important. It is vital they are compatible with each other and compliment your site.
